How Invisalign Works

You’ve probably heard of Invisalign but do you know exactly how it works? Here’s a guide to the teeth-straightening process with the revolutionary treatment:

Consultation with Dr. Chan

At your complimentary consultation in one of our Seattle Area (Monroe, Mill Creek, Bothell) or Alaska (Juneau) orthodontic offices, Dr. Chan will examine your mouth and let you know if Invisalign will work for your smile. If you’re a good candidate for the treatment, he’ll go over the process, the cost and answer any questions you have.

Make a Digital 3D Image of Your Teeth

Now, it’s on to the fun part. The Richard Chan Orthodontics team will take pictures of your mouth as well as x-rays and digital impression with our iTero scanner. We’ll input all of this information so that Invisalign can create a digital 3D model of your mouth. Dr. Chan specifies the exact movements of your teeth using the digital image. You can even see a representation of what your teeth will look like at each stage of treatment. Gotta love technology!

Get Your Custom Aligners

Invisalign creates custom-molded aligners based on Dr. Chan’s treatment plan. They’re made from clear, smooth, BPA-free plastic for a perfect fit. You’ll wear the aligners about 22 hours per day taking them out to eat and brush and floss your teeth.

Wear New Aligners Every Two Weeks

You’ll pop in a new set of aligners about every two weeks. As you move through the series, your teeth will shift a little bit closer to their ideal places. You’ll come by the office for occasional check-ups so Dr. Chan can make sure your treatment is on track.

Reveal Your New Smile!

When you’re done with your last set of aligners, your treatment is complete and you’ll have a beautiful smile to show for it.
